  7. its redshift. Redshifting is
  8. characteristic of many astronomical
  9. objects, such as galaxies, that are
  10. moving away from us at great speed
  11. because of the primordial explosion,
  12. or Big Bang. 
  13.  Conversely, objects that are moving
  14. toward us are blueshifted, their light
  15. being shifted toward the blue end of
  16. the spectrum.
